JS Saoura secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over USM Khenchela in the 32nd finals of the Algerian Cup on Thursday, edging out their opponents after 120 minutes of intense football.
The match remained deadlocked after regular time, with neither team able to break the deadlock. The game saw its first breakthrough in the 96th minute, when Oussama Bentaleb fired JS Saoura ahead. Mohamed Taib extended their advantage in the 114th minute, putting the Eagles of the Sahara firmly in control.
USM Khenchela showed signs of a late rally, pulling one back in the 118th minute, but it came too late to mount a serious challenge. The win ensures JS Saoura advances to the next round of the competition.
The Algerian Cup continues with 13 matches on Friday, January 3, as teams continue to battle for a place in the later stages of the tournament.
JS Saoura will take on MC Alger away in the Algerian Ligue 1 on January 28th.
