Al Ahly legend, Diaa El-Sayed, has called on Jose Riveiro to address the defense of the club ahead of the new football season.
Riveiro is already under pressure at the Red Devils, having failed to make an impact during the 2025 FIFA World Cup.
The Egyptian giants, along with fellow African sides Mamelodi Sundowns, Wydad Athletic Club, and Espérance de Tunis, were all eliminated in the group stage.
As the 2025/26 campaign draws near, El-Sayed has urged the former Orlando Pirates boss to address the team’s defence, emphasising that it remains weaker than other areas of the squad.
“The strongest signing for Al-Ahly will be Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan, who is one of the best players,” El-Sayed told journalist Amir Hisham on Al-Nahar TV, per Al Ahly News.com.
“The expected line-up for Al-Ahly Club is Mohamed El-Shenawy, Mohamed Hany, Yasser Ibrahim, Ahmed Ramadan Beckham, Mohamed Shukry, Aliou Dieng, Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Mohamed Sherif, and Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet.
“There are many distinguished players, such as Slovenian Nijk Gradiscar, Moroccan professional Achraf Bencharki, and other stars on the team,” he added.
“Al-Ahly has a large number of players in the midfield and attack, and they are all distinguished elements, but the defence line is somewhat worrying, and I fear disasters and defensive problems for the team. This requires a lot of work from Ribeiro, and we must rely on the team.”
