Joshua Zirkzee set to push for Manchester United exit this summer
Joshua Zirkzee has decided he wants to leave Manchester United at the end of the season, with a summer move now looking increasingly likely.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Dutch striker had already been close to departing Old Trafford in January, only for the club to block his exit due to a lack of attacking options.
Despite that stay of execution, Zirkzee’s situation has not improved on the pitch. Under Michael Carrick, he has featured in nine matches but played fewer than 30 minutes across just four appearances, a limited role that has fuelled his desire to seek regular football elsewhere.
The 24-year-old is expected to attract strong interest once the window opens, with clubs from both the Saudi Pro League and Serie A already monitoring his situation and considering a move.
For United, a sale would bring in funds for their own rebuild, while for Zirkzee it offers the chance to revive his career as a starting centre-forward after a frustrating spell on the fringes at Old Trafford.
