Joshua Zirkzee pushes for Serie A return
Joshua Zirkzee looks set to leave Manchester United this summer, with the Dutch forward offered to Roma and Juventus as he pushes for a return to Serie A, according to Italian transfer reporter Nicolo Schira.
Manchester United are ready to approve a sale after a difficult spell at Old Trafford and have informed clubs of his availability, with the player much keener on going back to Italy than staying in the Premier League.
Fabrizio Romano has backed up that stance, saying: “I can guarantee that the desire of Joshua Zirkzee is to change in the summer transfer window. Italian clubs have always been around for Zirkzee. In January Roma had been pushing, Juventus were keen as well.”
His frustration reportedly peaked in January when United blocked loan moves from both clubs, even though he was eager to leave in search of regular game time.
The 25-year-old has scored just 2 goals in 23 Premier League appearances this season, starting only 5 matches and falling well short of the form that once made him a standout at Bologna.
One key obstacle is Manchester United’s asking price of around €35m, while Roma and Juve are currently exploring loan formulas instead of a permanent transfer. Zirkzee joined United from Bologna in 2024 for £36.5m after registering 11 goals and 5 assists in his final Serie A campaign, numbers he has not come close to matching in England.
