Joshua Zirkzee Considers Summer Departure from Manchester United
Joshua Zirkzee is reportedly considering leaving Manchester United this summer after a frustrating season with limited game time.
According to The Sun’s Samuel Luckhurst, the 24-year-old striker has started only four matches and has not been named in the starting XI at any point under current boss Michael Carrick.
Former boss Ruben Amorim was prepared to let Zirkzee go in the January window, but the club’s hierarchy blocked a move, preferring to keep their options open in attack. Even so, Zirkzee now finds himself not only behind Benjamin Sesko in the pecking order, but also behind Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo, players who are not natural centre-forwards.
With United expected to prioritise the signing of a new left winger in the next transfer window, a sale could help raise funds for further reinforcements.
A return to Serie A is thought to be on the table, with Juventus and Roma having previously asked about his availability. For Zirkzee, a move back to Italy could offer the regular minutes and central role he has struggled to find at Old Trafford.
