Joshua Quarshie joins Greuther Fürth on loan to boost defense in 2nd Bundesliga

Joshua Quarshie has made a crucial move in his career, as the talented 20-year-old central defender joins SpVgg Greuther Fürth on loan for the second half of the season.

Previously with Fortuna Düsseldorf, Quarshie returns to the 2nd Bundesliga with hopes of making a significant impact and aiding Fürth’s battle for survival.

Having developed through the ranks at Tura 88 Duisburg, FC Schalke 04, and Hoffenheim, Quarshie spent the last year with Fortuna Düsseldorf but found limited playing time, featuring in only 16 competitive games. This winter, the loan was prematurely ended, making way for a fresh start at Fürth. The move comes after a successful stint with Germany’s U20 national team, where Quarshie has already earned 11 caps.

Sports director Stephan Fürstner expressed his excitement over the deal, highlighting Quarshie’s athleticism and robustness as key qualities that will strengthen their defense. Coach Jan Siewert is equally optimistic, seeing Quarshie as a dynamic addition to the team. Greuther Fürth currently sits in 15th place, and Quarshie’s arrival is seen as vital to their relegation battle.
