Joshua Mutale: Zambian winger linked with ZESCO United move from Simba SC
Zambian right winger Joshua Mutale of Simba SC is being linked with a return to his home country with ZESCO United FC interested in a move for the 24-year-old.
Mutale, who joined Tanzanian giants Simba from Power Dynamos on a 175,000 deal in July 2024, is under contract until 30 June 2027, meaning any transfer to ZESCO would require the clubs to agree a fee rather than a free transfer. His current market valuation stands at around 175,000, providing an early benchmark for negotiations.
The winger spent part of last season on loan at Saudi First Division side Al-Adalah, making 12 league appearances and scoring twice in 943 minutes of action, before returning to Simba at the end of June 2026. That spell is understood to have increased interest in his services, with ZESCO now exploring the possibility of bringing him back to the Zambian league.
Mutale, born on 24 January 2002 and standing at 1.65m, prefers to operate on the right flank and is right-footed, fitting the profile of a wide attacking option ZESCO are keen to add. His experience includes continental action with minutes in both the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, adding further appeal for a club regularly involved in regional competition.
Simbas stance is not yet clear, but with almost a year still to run before he reaches the midway point of his contract, the Tanzanian club are under no immediate pressure to sell. For now, Mutale remains a Simba SC player with three years left on his deal as ZESCO United weigh up their next move.
