Joseph Onoja: Nigerian midfielder linked with SLNA FC move from Ha Tinh FC
Nigerian midfielder Joseph Onoja of Ha Tinh FC is being linked with a move to V.League 1 rivals SLNA FC as the central midfielder attracts interest following an impressive spell in Vietnam.
Onoja, 27, has become a key figure in Ha Tinh’s midfield since joining the club on a free transfer from Iraqi side Naft Al-Basra in August 2025. His performances in V.League 1 have drawn attention from within the division, with SLNA understood to be exploring the possibility of bringing him in to strengthen their options in the centre of the pitch.
The former Rivers United player has built up significant experience across African and Asian competitions. He has featured regularly in league action in recent seasons and has also played in continental tournaments, including the CAF Confederation Cup and CAF Champions League, adding to his reputation as a durable midfielder capable of handling high-intensity fixtures.
Onoja’s market value is currently listed at around €200,000, a figure that provides a reference point for any potential negotiations between the two Vietnamese clubs. Ha Tinh only secured his services less than a year ago, giving them a strong position as they weigh up whether to entertain offers.
During his time with Rivers United, Onoja was part of the squad that won the Nigerian title in the 2021-22 season, an achievement that first pushed him into wider prominence before moves to Vietnam and Iraq followed. He continues to wear the number 5 shirt for Ha Tinh, and as things stand remains under contract with the club while SLNA monitor the situation.
