Joseph Ede scores four as Tukums 2000 cruise to dominant victory in Latvia
Beninese-Nigerian striker Joseph Ede produced one of the standout performances of the Latvian football season after scoring four goals in Tukums 2000’s emphatic 6-1 victory over Ogre United during the 11th round of the Tonybet Virslīga.
The forward was at the centre of everything positive for his side, delivering a ruthless display in front of goal to inspire one of the club’s most convincing wins of the campaign.
His four-goal performance underlined the impressive form he has shown since joining Tukums 2000 on loan.
Ede opened his account in the 35th minute before adding three more goals late in the game, striking again in the 79th, 91st and 92nd minutes.
Even in the closing moments of the contest, the striker remained composed and clinical, capping an outstanding individual display.
The result further highlighted his growing influence within the squad during a crucial stage of the season. Tukums 2000 have relied heavily on his attacking output, and the striker has continued to respond with consistency in front of goal.
Since the beginning of this phase of the campaign, Ede has featured in nine matches, scoring 11 goals and registering one assist.
Those numbers have reinforced his status as one of the most effective forwards currently playing in the Latvian league.
The attacker’s journey to this point has included several important stages across African and European football. Developed at the 36 Lion Academy in Nigeria, Ede first attracted wider attention during his spell with AS Cotonou in Benin, where his pace and physical presence stood out.
His move to Europe initially proved successful with FS Jelgava, where he scored 13 goals in 27 appearances and quickly adapted to Latvian football.
However, a more difficult period followed at FK Liepāja, where limited opportunities affected his momentum.
The loan switch to Tukums 2000 has now provided the striker with a fresh platform to rediscover his confidence and consistency.
His recent performances suggest he has regained top form and once again established himself as a dangerous attacking presence.
With his latest display attracting further attention, Ede’s resurgence continues to gather momentum as the Latvian season progresses.
