Joseph Asante: Ghana-Italy right-back joins Bischofshofen from Kitzbuhel in completed transfer
Ghanaian-Italian defender Joseph Asante has joined Austrian side Bischofshofen from league rivals Kitzbuhel, strengthening the club’s options at right-back ahead of the new campaign. The 29-year-old moves within the Austrian regional set-up, with the deal finalised on 15 July 2026.
Asante arrives as a specialist right-back, adding experience and versatility on the flank. Born in Modena and standing at 1.82m, he is predominantly right-footed and is expected to operate in his natural role on the defensive line as Bischofshofen reshape their squad.
The defender leaves Kitzbuhel after a spell that began in February 2024, when he joined them on a free transfer from FC Wacker. His time in Austria has seen him become familiar with the demands of regional league football, particularly in the Regionalliga West and Central, where he has built a solid bank of appearances.
Across his senior career, Asante has played extensively in Austria’s regional leagues, amassing more than 100 competitive appearances in all competitions, including the Tiroler Liga and the OFB-Cup. His record includes goals and assists from defence, underlining his capacity to contribute in advanced areas as well as in his primary defensive duties.
Earlier in his career, Asante spent spells in Slovenia and Albania as well as in Italian youth and lower-league football, experiences that have given him a broad grounding across different European styles. He now continues his career in Austria with Bischofshofen, having completed a move from Kitzbuhel.
