Joseph Akpala Returns to Belgium with KV Oostende
Nigerian striker Joseph Akpala has officially returned to the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, signing a three-year contract with KV Oostende. After weeks of speculation, the Super Eagles forward has completed his move, marking a return to a league where he made his name.
A familiar face in Belgian football, Akpala previously enjoyed successful spells at Charleroi and Club Brugge. His standout season came in 2007–2008 when he finished as the league’s top scorer with 18 goals — a performance that earned him a move to Germany with Werder Bremen in 2012.
The 28-year-old most recently played in Turkey for Karabükspor, but will now look to reignite his career back in Belgium with an ambitious Oostende side that continues to strengthen its squad.
For KV Oostende, Akpala brings valuable experience, a proven goal-scoring record in the Pro League, and leadership in attack. For the Nigerian international, the move represents a fresh opportunity to reclaim his form in a league he knows well.
With the season fast approaching, both club and player will hope this reunion delivers goals and success on the domestic front.
