Joselpho Barnes: Ghana-Germany forward linked with Bnei Sakhnin move

Ghana-Germany centre-forward Joselpho Barnes, currently without a club, is being linked with a move to Israeli Premier League side Bnei Sakhnin. The 24-year-old free agent is understood to be on the radar of the Ligat ha’Al outfit as they look to add attacking depth ahead of the new campaign.

Barnes has been without a club since leaving Belgian side Sint-Truiden in July 2025, a spell that followed his time in Latvia with Riga. His potential switch to Bnei Sakhnin would mark his first venture into Israeli football and offer a route back into a top-flight league after stints in both the Jupiler Pro League and the Virsliga.

The forward enjoyed his most productive senior spell in Latvia, scoring seven goals and providing four assists in the Virsliga. That form earned him a move to Sint-Truiden, where he also featured in the Belgian top flight and European play-off fixtures.

Born in Oberhausen and developed in Germany, Barnes came through the youth ranks at Schalke 04 after earlier spells with Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Monchengladbach and Fortuna Koln at youth level. He was part of the Schalke side that won the German Under-19 Bundesliga West in 2018-19.

At international level, Barnes was a member of the Ghana squad that lifted the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations title in 2021, scoring once in that tournament triumph.

With his current market value listed at around €100,000 and no transfer fee required, Bnei Sakhnin are weighing up whether to formalise their interest in bringing the free agent striker to Ligat ha’Al. For now, Barnes remains unattached as he considers his next move.
