Zimbabwe international returns to English football after completing loan move from Udinese

Watford have confirmed the signing of Jordan Zemura on a season-long loan from Italian club Udinese, with the Zimbabwe international returning to English football ahead of the new Championship season.

The left-back was officially unveiled by the club on Sunday, marking the beginning of another chapter in a career that has already included spells in both England and Italy.

Zemura returns to the Championship, a division he knows well from his previous time with Bournemouth, where he gained valuable experience before moving to Serie A.

Watford believes that combination of English and Italian football experience will strengthen the squad for the campaign ahead.

Watford complete loan agreement

The deal sees Zemura join Watford on a one-year loan from Udinese.

The move brings the defender back to England, where he will once again compete in the Championship.

His arrival adds another option in the full-back positions as Watford prepares for the challenges of the new season.

The club officially announced the signing on Sunday, confirming that the Zimbabwe international will spend the campaign at Vicarage Road.

The transfer represents a fresh opportunity for the defender to continue his development while returning to familiar surroundings.

Championship experience praised

Watford Technical Director Gian Luca Nani highlighted the qualities that convinced the club to pursue the defender.

According to Nani, Zemura’s previous experience in the Championship played an important role in the decision to bring him back to England.

He also praised the player’s balanced style of play, pointing to both his attacking qualities and the defensive improvements gained during his time in Italy.

“Zemura is a player with Championship experience from Bournemouth. He’s a complete full-back. He has the technique and quality to contribute to attacking phases. His experience in Serie A has strengthened him defensively,” said Gian Luca Nani, Watford’s Technical Director.

The comments underline the club’s confidence that Zemura can make an immediate contribution.

Return to familiar surroundings

For Zemura, the transfer marks a return to a league where he has previously built his reputation.

His earlier spell with Bournemouth provided him with valuable Championship experience before he continued his career in Serie A with Udinese.

Now back in England, the defender begins a new challenge with Watford while looking to apply the experience gained during his time in Italian football.

The season-long loan offers him the chance to play regular football in a familiar environment while helping Watford pursue its objectives during the campaign.

With the agreement now complete, Jordan Zemura officially becomes a Watford player for the season, returning to English football with added experience and the expectation of playing an important role throughout the Championship campaign.
