Jordan Ayew linked with APOEL Nicosia in Cyprus after Leicester City departure

Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew, currently without a club after leaving Leicester City, has been linked with a move to APOEL Nicosia in the Cyprus League.

The 34-year-old centre-forward became a free agent on 1 July, following his departure from Leicester, whom he joined from Crystal Palace in August 2024 for a reported €5.9m. No agreement has been confirmed between Ayew and the Cypriot club.

Ayew was involved for Ghana at the 2026 World Cup, appearing in all four of the team’s possible matches. He started each game and played 84% of the available minutes, although he did not score or provide an assist.

He has made 305 Premier League appearances, scoring 42 goals and providing 25 assists. Ayew also played 159 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 31 times, and began his senior career at Marseille.

His honours include winning the French title with Marseille in the 2009-10 season, as well as three French League Cups and two French Super Cups.

Ayew’s most recent transfer was his move to Leicester from Crystal Palace, after five seasons with the London club. He had previously played for Swansea City, Aston Villa and Lorient.

The APOEL link comes with Ayew’s market value listed at €1m, while his current status remains that of an unattached player.
