Jonathan Tah’s arrival at Bayern Munich in the summer of 2025 feels like a new chapter he has long been waiting to write.
The 29-year-old defender finally joined from Bayer Leverkusen for a modest fee, allowing him to feature in the Club World Cup. But the journey to Munich was not without its scars.
A year earlier, the move had been within reach. Talks progressed well, yet Leverkusen refused to let their defensive leader go. For Tah, the rejection stung deeply.
Still, when Bayern came calling again, the pull was too strong to ignore.
“I liked how the coach communicated with me, how Max Eberl talked to me a lot and presented the project to me what the club sees in me, what I can bring to the team. It was exactly this challenge that appealed to me. It’s the right next step for me,” Tah said.
To him, Bayern’s project is simple yet grand: win every possible title and keep building the club’s global reputation.
