Jonathan Tah has thrown his support behind Vincent Kompany’s approach as Bayern Munich prepare to chase a Champions League turnaround against Paris Saint-Germain at the Allianz Arena.

The German defender’s comments come in the aftermath of a frantic first-leg encounter in Paris, where Bayern Munich were left exposed in a 5-0 defeat that immediately sparked debate over Kompany’s tactical boldness on the European stage.

Despite the heavy scoreline and criticism from sections of the media, Tah moved to shut down suggestions that the team should abandon its attacking principles in the return fixture.

Instead, he stressed that Bayern’s identity must remain intact as they look to overturn the deficit in front of their home supporters.

He made his position clear, insisting consistency in approach is central to their progress this season. “Basically, our way of playing has brought us to where we are now. That’s why I don’t think we should change anything about it,” Tah told the media.

The defender went on to underline what Bayern must deliver if they are to stand any chance of completing a famous comeback. He highlighted intensity, bravery and control of key moments across the pitch, particularly in physical duels and second-ball situations that often decide high-level European ties.

“The most important thing is simply our way of playing, that we are brave, that we are aggressive, win the challenges, win duels individually as well as a team as a whole, win second balls.”

Bayern’s approach under Kompany has leaned heavily on proactive pressing and attacking intent, even against elite opposition. Tah’s backing suggests the dressing room remains aligned with that philosophy despite the risks exposed in Paris.
