German defender of Ivorian descent, Jonathan Tah, has rallied his Bayern Munich teammates to be at their best for their next Bundesliga match against Bayer Leverkusen.

The German international, who joined Bayern in the summer, expects a difficult contest against a team he still holds close ties with.

Speaking after Bayern’s 4-1 DFB Cup victory over 1. FC Köln, Tah stressed the importance of quickly shifting focus to the weekend showdown.

“We’re happy about the win today, and tomorrow we’ll focus on the next game. That’s what the team embodies and what the whole club is living right now,” he told fcbayern.com.

Since his arrival, Tah has been instrumental in Bayern’s solid defensive performances, helping the team concede only ten goals across 14 competitive matches. His partnership with Dayot Upamecano has brought renewed stability and leadership to the backline.

This weekend’s fixture will mark an emotional reunion for the 28-year-old, who still maintains contact with many at Leverkusen.

“Of course I still have contact with many people from the club,” he admitted.

Looking ahead to the encounter, Tah expects a fiercely competitive match.

“It will be a very high-level game,” he said. “They will come to us with courage. We will try to take that courage away from them, play our game, and win.”

The Bundesliga fixture between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen is scheduled to kick off at 5:30 pm on Saturday at Allianz Arena.
