Jonathan Pitroipa is set to leave Rennes and France despite having one year left on his contract. The Burkinabe winger, who played 134 matches for Rennes and was named best player at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, will continue his career at Al Jazira in the United Arab Emirates.
After a strong start with 22 goals in his first two seasons, Pitroipa struggled in his final season at Rennes, scoring just once in 23 appearances.
Interestingly, Pitroipa will join Al Jazira alongside Montenegrin striker Mirko Vucinic, formerly of Juventus, adding firepower to the UAE club’s attack.
