Jonathan Muzinga has completed a permanent move from FC Lahti to Vaasan Palloseura (VPS), joining the Veikkausliiga side on a free transfer. The deal, confirmed between the two Finnish top-flight clubs, sees the 23‑year‑old centre-forward swap Lahti for Vaasa with his contract at VPS running from 06/03/2026 to 31/12/2026.
The transfer keeps Muzinga in the Veikkausliiga, with VPS acquiring a right-footed central striker whose current market value is listed at €50k. The move follows the expiry of his stint at FC Lahti, ensuring there is no transfer fee involved despite his established status in the Finnish top division. Both clubs compete in the same league, so the switch represents a domestic reshuffle of attacking options rather than a change of competition.
Muzinga arrives in Vaasa after a short spell at FC Lahti, who had signed him from Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) the previous year. His market value at Lahti most recently stood at €50k, down from a high of €100k recorded during his time with KuPS, indicating that VPS are taking a relatively low-cost opportunity on a player who has previously been valued more highly.
Born in Lappeenranta and holding dual nationality with Finland and DR Congo, Muzinga has spent his entire senior career in Finnish football. He progressed from Pallokerho-35 U19 to the club’s senior side, then moved to SJK Seinäjoki II, FC Honka, KuPS, FC Lahti and now VPS, all within the Finnish system. Each step has kept him in domestic competition, mostly in or around the Veikkausliiga structure, without any recorded spell abroad.
Across his career path, his transfer history shows steady movement almost every year or two, but always between Finnish clubs. At Pallokerho-35, his value rose quickly from €25k to €50k as a teenager, remaining at that level through his time at SJK Seinäjoki II. A brief dip at FC Honka to €25k was followed by a recovery back to €50k and then a jump to €100k during his peak valuation period at KuPS, before settling again at €50k with FC Lahti.
The latest switch to VPS offers Muzinga another platform in the Veikkausliiga to reassert himself and potentially rebuild that higher valuation. Still only 23 and playing his natural role through the middle of the attack, he fits the profile of a forward who can grow with the team over the course of his new deal. If he performs consistently in Vaasa, this contract could become the springboard to either a longer stay at VPS or a future move that takes him beyond Finland for the first time in his career.
