Jonathan Mutombo: French-Congolese Gil Vicente defender linked with Torreense move

French-DR Congo right-back Jonathan Mutombo of Gil Vicente has been linked with a switch to Portuguese second-tier side Torreense.

Mutombo, 23, is a right-footed defender who joined Gil Vicente from Vitoria Guimaraes B in July 2024 and is currently valued at around 400,000. Any deal would see him move from Liga Portugal to Liga Portugal 2, with Torreense looking to strengthen their defensive options.

Born in Paris and standing at 1.90m, Mutombo offers an imposing physical profile at right-back, and his development in Portugal has seen his market value rise significantly since arriving at Gil Vicente, before stabilising in recent months.

The defender holds both French and DR Congo nationality and came through the youth and U19 set-up at Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Vitoria Guimaraes U23 side, where he continued his progression in Portuguese football.

There is no indication that an agreement has been reached between Gil Vicente and Torreense, and the rumour remains at an early stage, with Mutombo still on the books of the Liga Portugal club.
