Jonathan Ikoné is already making an impact at Como, scoring his first goal for the club in last weekend’s 1-1 draw against Venezia.
His agent, Andy Bara, shed light on what led to the move, crediting Cesc Fabregas as the driving force behind the transfer.
“For Fabregas, he is the main reason. As said, the Spanish technician follows him since he played in France and it was he who called him several times to convince him to accept. An insistence that Jonathan liked and who convinced him to accept.”
When asked about Ikoné’s future beyond this season, Bara remained cautious but open to possibilities. “I think it is now too early to talk about this. They have an option to buy it and if everything will go well between the parts, why not? Serie A is a great championship, in Como it is well and is in a club that we see improve every day.”
Como secured Ikoné from Fiorentina in January on a costly loan deal worth 1 million euros, with an option to buy set at 8 million euros. His early performances suggest he could become a crucial asset for the club moving forward.
