Jonathan Bamba, despite an average debut season at Celta Vigo, has firmly decided to continue his journey with the Spanish club. In an exclusive interview with 225Foot, the Ivorian international dismissed rumors linking him to Olympique Lyonnais and expressed his contentment with his current club.

Bamba’s decision to stay at Balaidos comes after speculation that he might return to Ligue 1 this summer. However, the 27-year-old winger made it clear that he is not planning to leave Spain anytime soon.

“I think the future will be better for me and for Celta. I have learned a lot this season, I understand the language better, I know the club and my teammates better, everything will go better and I will be able to reach my best level,” Bamba stated. “I have a contract until 2026. For now I am here, and very happy at Celta.”

Bamba’s first season at Celta Vigo saw him netting 5 goals and providing 2 assists in 28 appearances, totaling 2,038 minutes of play.

While these numbers may not seem extraordinary, they reflect a period of adjustment for the player who transitioned from Ligue 1 to La Liga.

Bamba believes that his understanding of the game in Spain, his teammates, and the language has significantly improved, setting the stage for a more successful second season.

Born in Alfortville, France, Bamba began his professional career with Saint-Étienne before moving to Lille, where he made a significant impact.

His performances at Lille caught the attention of several European clubs, leading to his transfer to Celta Vigo in the summer of 2023.

Despite a mixed first season, Bamba remains optimistic about his future in Spain and is determined to prove his worth at Celta.

The speculation surrounding Bamba’s potential move to Olympique Lyonnais was fueled by his previous success in Ligue 1.

However, Bamba’s recent statements have put an end to these rumors, at least for the current transfer window.

His commitment to Celta Vigo until 2026 indicates a long-term plan to establish himself as a key player for the team.

Bamba’s decision to stay is a significant boost for Celta Vigo, who are looking to build a more cohesive and competitive squad for the upcoming season.

His experience and skill set are expected to be valuable assets as the team aims for better performance in La Liga.

As Bamba gears up for his second season with Celta Vigo, both the player and the club have high hopes for improved results.

The winger’s determination to stay and succeed in Spain is a testament to his resilience and ambition.

Fans of Celta Vigo will be eagerly watching to see how Bamba leverages his first season’s experience to elevate his game and contribute more significantly to the team’s success.

In conclusion, Jonathan Bamba’s reaffirmed commitment to Celta Vigo marks a crucial step in his professional journey.

His focus on growth and adaptation highlights his dedication to both his personal development and the team’s ambitions.

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Bamba to see if he can translate his confidence and optimism into on-field success.
