Jonathan Akaegbobi: Stuttgart II bring in German-Nigerian striker from Bochum II
German-Nigerian striker Jonathan Akaegbobi has joined Stuttgart II from VfL Bochum II on loan, completing a move to the 3. Liga club on 1 September 2026.
The 20-year-old centre-forward switches clubs after spending the previous season with Bochum II, who compete in the Regionalliga West. Akaegbobi made five appearances in the competition, starting 80% of those matches and recording one assist from 353 minutes on the pitch.
Akaegbobi is a right-footed attacker whose primary position is centre-forward. Born in Germany on 25 April 2006, he holds German and Nigerian nationality. His move gives Stuttgart II another option in the central attacking area as the club competes in the third tier of German football.
The forward joined Bochum II from Wolfsburg U19 in July 2025 on a free transfer. He had previously spent time in the youth systems of Dynamo Dresden and SFK Dresden, moving from Dynamo Dresden’s under-17 side to Wolfsburg’s under-19 team in July 2023.
Akaegbobi’s earlier switch to Wolfsburg followed a €150,000 transfer from Dynamo Dresden’s under-17 setup. He began his youth career at SFK Dresden before joining Dynamo Dresden’s academy in 2020, progressing through the club’s development structure before moving on two years later.
His arrival at Stuttgart II represents his third club move since July 2023 and his first change of team during the 2026-27 campaign. The move also takes him from Bochum II’s Regionalliga West environment to a Stuttgart II side competing in the 3. Liga.
Stuttgart II have secured Akaegbobi’s services on loan from VfL Bochum II until 30 June 2027.
