Johnson Juah: Nigerian midfielder joins AD Sanjoanense on free transfer
Nigerian midfielder Johnson Juah has joined AD Sanjoanense on a free transfer from Moncarapachense. The 26-year-old central midfielder has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the Campeonato de Portugal side.
Juah, a right-footed midfielder standing at 1.80m, moves after a season with Moncarapachense, continuing a career that has been built largely in the Portuguese lower divisions. He becomes the latest addition to Sanjoanenses squad as they prepare for the new CP Serie B campaign.
The Lagos-born player arrives with solid experience at this level. Across league and cup competitions in Portugal, he has accumulated more than 50 senior appearances, including regular game time in the Campeonato de Portugal and the Taca de Portugal. He has also featured in the Liga Revelacao, adding further minutes in a developmental environment.
Before joining Moncarapachense in 2025, Juah spent two seasons with Lusitano Evora, where he was part of the side that won the Campeonato de Portugal in the 2024-25 season. That title represents the standout honour of his career to date and underlines his familiarity with the demands of the division Sanjoanense now compete in.
Juahs career has also taken in spells with Juventude Evora, Vale Formoso and Amora FC after an early move from Nigeria, gradually building his reputation as a central option in midfield. His switch from Moncarapachense to Sanjoanense is a permanent free transfer completed on 9 July 2026 and will keep him at the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.
