Johan Bakayoko returns to RB Leipzig squad for PSV clash
Johan Bakayoko is back in RB Leipzig’s squad for Tuesday’s Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven after being left out of the weekend win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Coach Martín Demichelis said the winger’s absence from the 6-0 victory was due to an internal matter, which has now been resolved. He confirmed Bakayoko will travel with the team to face his former club, although it remains unclear whether he will feature.
“On the subject of Baka: it was a minor thing. That stays between us. He made a small mistake, but he is a good boy,” Demichelis said at his pre-match press conference.
The coach added that the pair had spoken and the issue was settled. “We have already talked, and tomorrow he will be in the squad,” he said. Demichelis declined to explain what happened, stressing that it was not serious and had already been put behind them.
Leipzig have no fresh injury concerns following the Frankfurt match. Demichelis said the squad situation was similar to the weekend, with players given Monday to recover before preparing for PSV.
Bakayoko’s return gives Leipzig another attacking option, but his role against Eindhoven will depend on the coach’s selection.
