Jesse Sekidika: Nigerian winger joins Gangwon FC on free transfer from Sabah FK
Gangwon FC have signed Nigerian winger Jesse Sekidika from Azerbaijani champions Sabah FK on a free transfer. The 29-year-old, who also holds English nationality, moves to the K League 1 side after a successful spell in Azerbaijan in which he collected both league and cup honours.
Sekidika arrives in South Korea having just helped Sabah FK win the Premyer Liqa title in the 2025-26 season. The left winger was also part of the side that lifted back-to-back Azerbaijani Cups in 2024-25 and 2025-26, underlining his experience in titlewinning squads.
The Port Harcourt-born attacker, a right-footed player who operates mainly from the left flank, joined Sabah FK in September 2023, also on a free transfer, and was valued at around 800,000 at the time of his move to Gangwon FC. During the most recent Azerbaijani Cup campaign he featured in the competition, contributing across two appearances as Sabah completed a domestic double.
Before moving to Azerbaijan, Sekidikas career took in spells with Galatasaray and several Turkish clubs, including loans at Konyaspor, OH Leuven and Umraniyespor, as well as earlier stints with Eskisehirspor and Serbian side Napredak Krusevac, where he was part of a Serbian Second League title win in 2015-16. His journey also included youth football in Portugal and England.
Sekidika joins Gangwon FC on a free transfer from Sabah FK, adding a decorated wide option to the K League 1 clubs attacking ranks.
