Jess Thorup pursues first title with Al Ahly in Egyptian Super Cup
Danish coach Jess Thorup is eager to guide Al Ahly towards his first title with the club as they prepare for the Egyptian Super Cup semi-final against Ceramica Cleopatra, to be played in the UAE.
Speaking at a press conference, Thorup called the match “an important milestone in our journey to win the championship,” and expressed his hopes for a debut triumph.
“My first time at the Egyptian Super Cup, but I have fond memories of camps in the Emirates. I am excited for a new achievement with Al Ahly,” Thorup said, emphasizing his commitment to improving the team’s performance and always “looking to the next step.”
Thorup highlighted the readiness and passion of his players, confirming that Mohamed Sherif and Imam Ashour had participated in training. “I am very excited to see our fans in the stands. Their energy is always inspiring, and I hope they’ll support us strongly tomorrow.”
Goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy added, “We came to the Emirates with high ambitions and a strong desire to win more titles. Ceramica is a tough team, but we are prepared and focused. Winning is always our goal,” thanking the hosts for their hospitality.
Midfielder Emam Ashour expressed his joy at being back with the team after his absence.
“I hope to support my teammates and celebrate with our fans. Their encouragement helped me through tough times. I am motivated to help Al Ahly win more championships and make the supporters proud”.
