Jess Thorup announces Al Ahly squad ahead of El Gaish clash
Al Ahly head coach Jess Thorup has unveiled the squad for their upcoming Egyptian Premier League clash against Tala’ea El Gaish.
The roster features a blend of experienced campaigners and emerging talent, with the likes of Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Hamza Alaa, Ahmed Ramadan Beckham, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Yasser Ibrahim, and Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet expected to play key roles.
Attackers Mohamed Sherif, Marwan Attia, Hussein El Shahat, and Ashraf Ben Sharqi provide the team with firepower, while midfielders Youssef Belamri, Hadi Riad, Emam Ashour, and Aliou Dieng offer creativity and control in the middle of the park. Ahmed Eid, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Marwan Osman, Taher Mohamed Taher, Mohamed Hany, and Ahmed Nabil Kouka complete the squad, giving Thorup plenty of options both offensively and defensively.
Al Ahly come into the match buoyed by a convincing 3-1 victory over Al Mokawloon Al Arab last Thursday at Al Mokawloon Stadium, a result that reinforced their status as serious contenders for the league crown.
Currently sitting third in the standings with 40 points, the Cairo giants are eager to close the gap on the leaders and maintain pressure in the race for the Egyptian topflight title.
Thorup’s selection suggests a tactical balance, with experienced defenders paired with dynamic midfielders and clinical forwards, reflecting his strategy to combine solidity at the back with creativity and efficiency going forward.
The clash with Tala’ea El Gaish represents another crucial test in Al Ahly’s campaign, as they look to secure three points and sustain their push for silverware.
With a competitive squad at his disposal, Thorup is expected to rotate smartly while keeping the team’s attacking rhythm sharp, aiming to build on the momentum from their previous triumph and maintain their challenge at the top of Egyptian football.
