Jesper Ceesay close to Portsmouth transfer

Jesper Ceesay is reportedly close to joining Portsmouth after fresh talks between the English club and Antalyaspor reached an agreement.

The Swedish midfielder has been on Portsmouth’s radar for much of the summer, but previous negotiations had appeared to stall.

Now, according to Turkish reports, the two clubs have settled on a transfer fee of around one million euros. That would bring an end to Ceesay’s stay in Turkey after he joined Antalyaspor from IFK Norrkoping in 2024.

Ceesay began his career in Sweden and has also represented AIK and Brommapojkarna, building a path that has taken him from Stockholm football to a possible move in England. In 2025, he also switched his international allegiance to Gambia, adding another important step to his career. Ceesay is a product of the youth academies of Hasselby and Brommapojkarna.

On 9 April 2021, he extended his contract with the club until 2023. In his first season in 2021, he became a starter at the club and helped them win the 2021 Ettan, and was named the league’s talent of the season.

For Portsmouth, the deal would add a versatile midfield option as they continue to strengthen their squad. For Ceesay, it would be a chance to restart in a new league and take another step forward after one season in Turkey.
