Cameroonian international Jérôme Guihoata could soon be leaving Cypriot side Omonia Aradippou, with reports suggesting he is being targeted by Iranian top-flight club Aluminium Arak FC. The 29-year-old defender, who joined Omonia Aradippou in January 2023 from Greek side Eolikos, is now attracting interest from the Middle East.
According to sources cited by 237foot, talks have already begun between the player’s representatives and the Iranian club, which is looking to strengthen its defense ahead of the new season.
Aluminium Arak FC, currently competing in the Persian Gulf Pro League, is said to be seeking a versatile defender, and Guihoata, who can play both as a central defender and right-back, has emerged as a top target.
Guihoata, a former player for French clubs Valenciennes FC and Nîmes Olympique, brings a wealth of experience from his stints in Europe and Africa.
His ability to slot into multiple positions in defense makes him an attractive option for Aluminium Arak, which is eager to bolster its squad for both domestic and continental competitions.
An agreement between the two clubs could be reached in the coming days, paving the way for Guihoata to make the switch to Iran.
While details of the potential deal are still being negotiated, it is believed that Aluminium Arak is keen to finalize the transfer as soon as possible.
Guihoata is currently under contract with Omonia Aradippou until May 31, 2025, but the prospect of a move to Iran could see him depart Cyprus much sooner than expected.
The Indomitable Lion’s time at Omonia has been relatively short, but his performances have evidently caught the attention of scouts in the region, with his next destination potentially being the Iranian Premier League.
For the 29-year-old, this move would represent a new chapter in his career, having already experienced football in France, Greece, and Cyprus.
A transfer to Aluminium Arak would also provide him with an opportunity to compete in a different footballing environment while continuing to showcase his talents on the international stage.
As negotiations continue, all eyes will be on whether Guihoata secures a move to Iran, adding another step to his growing career across various continents.
