Jeremy Doku signs Manchester City contract extension as Belgian winger targets more success under Enzo Maresca

Manchester City have extended Jeremy Doku’s contract until the summer of 2031, securing the future of one of their most versatile attacking players.

The Belgium winger, who joined City from French club Stade Rennais in the summer of 2023, has signed a new five-year agreement that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium for a further period.

“Jeremy Doku has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2031,” the club said in an official statement.

Doku, 24, has established himself as one of the most exciting wide players in the Premier League since moving to Manchester. His pace, close control and ability to beat defenders have made him a regular threat, while his finishing has also contributed to his growing importance within the team.

He has made 131 appearances for City so far, scoring 22 goals.

Although he is most closely associated with the left wing, Doku has also shown his adaptability by operating on the right and, at times, in a more central role. That flexibility has allowed him to remain an important option in the squad as City compete across several competitions.

During his time at the club, his contribution has helped City win five major trophies. Those honours include the Premier League, the FA Cup, the League Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Community Shield.

Doku is also one of Belgium’s leading internationals. He has won 48 caps and helped his country reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

After signing the new deal, Doku said he was delighted to continue his career at City and spoke of his enthusiasm at working under recently appointed manager Enzo Maresca.

“I have really enjoyed my time at City so far, so having the opportunity to stay longer is a great feeling,” said Doku.

“This club means a lot to me. I have developed as a player and as a person. I feel settled here, and I know I am improving every day because of the work the staff do here.”

He added: “It is difficult to explain how much this club does to help its players. I never take that for granted, and it makes me better.”

Doku also welcomed the arrival of Maresca and said he was looking forward to the new season.

“With Enzo here now, I am very excited about the new season. His style of football is the type we like, and that is exciting for the players,” he said.

The winger said City’s supporters had also played a major part in his decision to commit his future to the club.

“City fans are also a major reason why I signed this new contract. I feel their love and support, and that means a lot to me. I want to focus on achieving the success they deserve,” Doku added.
