Jeremy Doku nets brace to save Manchester City from defeat at Everton 

Belgian forward of Ghanaian descent, Jeremy Doku, netted a sensational brace for Manchester City on Monday night, saving the side from a defeat to Everton in the English Premier League.  

The winger opened the scoring in spectacular fashion in the 43rd minute, unleashing a powerful strike from outside the penalty area that flew into the top left corner to give City the lead heading into the break. 

Everton responded after halftime and drew level in the 68th minute when Thierno Barry capitalised on a defensive mistake to slot home from close range. Momentum quickly shifted in favour of the hosts, and they took the lead just five minutes later as Jake O’Brien rose highest to meet a corner delivered by James Garner, powering a header into the roof of the net. 

Everton appeared to be in control when Barry struck again in the 81st minute, putting them two goals clear and on course for a memorable victory. 

However, City mounted a late comeback. Erling Haaland reduced the deficit in the 83rd minute with a composed finish over goalkeeper Jordan Pickford after latching onto a well-timed pass. 

With time running out, Doku stepped up once more deep into stoppage time, producing another moment of brilliance with a fierce strike from outside the box that found the inside of the right post, completing his brace and salvaging a crucial result for City. 

The late drama ensured Pep Guardiola’s side avoided defeat in a pulsating encounter, with Doku’s heroics underlining his growing influence in Manchester City’s attack.
