Jeremy Doku anticipates tough test as Manchester City face Chelsea in FA Cup final
Belgian international of Ghanaian descent Jeremy Doku is expecting a tough challenge when Manchester City face Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
The Sky Blues will take on Chelsea in a high-stakes final on Saturday, May 16, 2026, with victory crucial as they aim to secure another domestic trophy.
Doku and his teammates are looking to bounce back from last year’s final defeat to Crystal Palace. The Premier League champions have already lifted silverware this season after beating Arsenal 2–0 in the Carabao Cup final, and now turn their focus to the FA Cup.
Despite Chelsea’s inconsistent form this season, the Belgian winger acknowledged the threat posed by the London club.
“This season Chelsea have not been at their usual level. I think they want to finish the season with a title, and they will do their best. When you look at the team’s lineup, you will find that they have great players. They may give us the ball a little, but counter-attacks will be very dangerous,” Doku said.
The winger also highlighted the importance of playing at Wembley Stadium, describing it as a special venue for major finals.
“It’s huge. Every time you play at Wembley, there are two crowds, one against you and one for you. When you go there, you know it’s because of an important match,” he explained.
Doku has been outstanding in the FA Cup campaign, scoring one goal and providing four assists in 4 appearances. In all competitions, the pacey winger has made 44 appearances for Manchester City, scoring 8 goals and providing 14 assists.
