Bayer Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong is reportedly eager to join Liverpool this summer, with a transfer looking increasingly likely.
Frimpong, who has Ghanaian heritage, is expected to link up with his Dutch international teammates Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, and Cody Gakpo at Anfield as Liverpool prepare for life without Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The England right-back is set to leave the club when his contract expires, prompting the Reds to move swiftly to secure a replacement.
According to respected journalist David Ornstein, Liverpool have intensified talks with the player’s representatives, and personal terms are not expected to be a stumbling block.
The 24-year-old, who is said to be keen on working under manager Arne Slot, has a release clause in the region of €35 million, which Liverpool are prepared to meet.
“Liverpool advancing in talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen – increasing confidence from Dutch int’l camp deal will be struck.
“24yo #Bayer04 right-back keen on move so personal terms no issue. ~€35M clause appeals to #LFC,” Ornstein reported.
Frimpong has had a standout season in the Bundesliga, scoring five goals and providing 12 assists in 48 appearances for Leverkusen.
His attacking style, which sees him push high up the pitch and provide width, aligns closely with Liverpool’s tactical approach, making him a natural fit to replace Alexander-Arnold.
Additionally, Frimpong’s arrival would add competition for Conor Bradley, who has impressed many with his development but lacks the experience of his potential new teammate.
With Liverpool looking to strengthen their squad depth ahead of the new season, Frimpong’s versatility and attacking threat could be crucial for the Reds’ ambitions.
