OGC Nice’s Ivory Coast winger, Jérémie Boga, is bracing for a significant spell out of action following a severe quadriceps injury.
Nice manager Franck Haise confirmed the grim news, describing the injury to Boga’s right thigh as “severe,” and suggested an absence lasting several months. French publication L’Équipe estimates his recovery could take between three and four months.
Boga’s absence is a major setback for Nice, already plagued by an injury-riddled campaign. The 27-year-old winger has struggled with consistency this season, missing the opening Ligue 1 games before finally making his debut for the Côte d’Azur side.
It’s a frustrating turn of events for Boga, who joined Nice on a long-term deal just this summer. Signed on July 25, 2023, for a reported €18 million, he arrived with high expectations following successful stints with Sassuolo and Atalanta.
The injury adds to the challenges for Nice as they continue to navigate a difficult season marred by injuries and setbacks. For now, all eyes will be on Boga’s recovery timeline.
