There are reports in the Beninese press suggesting that Jean-Pierre Papin is a strong contender to become the next coach of the Benin national football team, the Squirrels. The Benin Football Federation’s new office, currently on a mission in France, is said to favor the former French international, who won the Ballon d’Or in 1991. Papin is reportedly competing with Michel Dussyer, who has recently come from the national team of Guinea. If appointed, Papin will be the ninth coach for the Squirrels in nine years, succeeding Manuel Amoros.
