Jean-Philippe Mateta is keen to leave Crystal Palace this month, with reports suggesting his push to move is driven by both financial motives and international ambitions.

The French striker is understood to earn around £55,000 per week, making him one of the lowest-paid regular starters in the squad, and he feels he has missed out on higher earnings during his time at the club. His current contract runs until 2027, but he previously turned down a lucrative six‑figure‑per‑week offer from Palace over a year ago.

Mateta is also worried that staying at Selhurst Park could harm his chances of breaking into the France squad for the 2026 World Cup, and he is therefore open to a move that would raise his profile and competitive level.

Palace are reportedly willing to cash in rather than risk losing him later, yet their £40 million asking price is seen as steep by interested clubs.

The London side has already rejected an approach from AC Milan, and coach Oliver Glasner has publicly denied that Mateta has handed in an official transfer request, leaving the player’s future finely balanced as the window progresses.
