Jean Onana: Cameroon midfielder at Besiktas linked with Ludogorets move

Cameroon defensive midfielder Jean Onana of Besiktas is being linked with a summer move to Bulgarian champions Ludogorets in the efbet Liga. The 26-year-old, who is under contract in Istanbul until 30 June 2027, is understood to be under consideration as Ludogorets look to strengthen the spine of their squad ahead of the new campaign.

Onana returned to Besiktas this summer after a loan spell in Serie A with Genoa, where he featured in Italy’s top flight during the second half of the 2024-25 season. His situation at Besiktas has been complicated by limited involvement in the Super Lig, with just seven league appearances and 57 minutes played so far, prompting speculation that the Turkish club could be open to offers.

Besiktas paid €4.04 million to sign Onana from Lens in July 2023, when his market value stood at €6m. That valuation has since fallen to €1m, a drop that may make a deal more accessible for Ludogorets as they weigh up a potential move for the Yaounde-born midfielder.

Onana has experience across several European leagues, including Ligue 1, where he made 58 appearances and scored four goals earlier in his career. He was part of the Besiktas squad that won the Turkish Super Cup in the 2024-25 season, adding silverware to a CV that also includes spells in France, Italy, Belgium and Portugal.

For now, Onana remains a Besiktas player with a year left on his deal beyond this season, leaving the Turkish side in a strong position to negotiate should Ludogorets decide to formalise their interest.
