Rennes has decided to exercise the purchase option on Jean II Makoun, who will continue playing in Ligue 1 next season. The Cameroonian midfielder was on loan from Aston Villa during the current season, and the French club has opted to make the move permanent by paying 3 million euros. Aston Villa officially announced the departure of Makoun on their Twitter account, confirming that he has joined Rennes. The duration of the contract with Rennes has not been disclosed yet.
