Jean Evrard Kouassi joins Al-Mesaimeer from Umm Salal

Ivory Coast winger Jean Evrard Kouassi has joined Al-Mesaimeer from Umm Salal SC, switching clubs in Qatar’s Second Division on 25 August 2026.

The 31-year-old has signed a contract with Al-Mesaimeer until 30 June 2027. Kouassi is a left winger who prefers his right foot and stands 1.74m tall.

He arrives after one season with Umm Salal, having moved to the club from ZJ FC on 14 July 2025. Kouassi’s latest transfer keeps him in the Qatari Second Division, with Al-Mesaimeer becoming the latest club in a career that has taken him across Asia and Europe.

Kouassi has recorded 148 appearances, 47 goals and 27 assists in the Super League, while also making 59 appearances in the SuperSport HNL and 49 in League One. He has also featured in the Turkish Super Lig, Qatar’s Stars League and the Chinese Super League relegation play-offs.

His career includes spells with Trabzonspor, Karagumruk, ZJ FC, Umm Salal, Wuhan Zall, Shanghai SIPG and Croatian side HNK Hajduk Split. He joined ZJ FC from Trabzonspor as a free agent in February 2023, after returning to the Turkish club from a loan spell at Karagumruk.

Kouassi won the Turkish title with Trabzonspor during the 2021-22 season and lifted the Turkish Super Cup the following campaign. Earlier in his career, he was part of the Hajduk Split team that won the Croatian Cup in 2012-13.

The Ivorian also helped Wuhan Zall secure promotion to the first division in 2017-18, a campaign in which he scored 15 goals. His record includes experience in the AFC Champions League, Europa League qualifying, the Turkish Cup, the Chinese FA Cup and the Qatar-based QSL Cup.

Al-Mesaimeer have secured a player with extensive experience in domestic competitions across several countries and a history of contributing goals from the left side of attack. Kouassi’s current market value is €450,000, while his highest recorded value was €3m.

He will remain with Al-Mesaimeer through the end of June 2027 after completing his move from Umm Salal.
