Jason Adigun: Stockport sign attacking midfielder from Chelmsford City in permanent deal
Stockport County have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Jason Adigun from Chelmsford City in a permanent transfer on 7 July 2026 for an undisclosed fee.
Adigun, 22, joins the League One club after a short spell with Chelmsford in the National League South, continuing a rapid rise through the English pyramid. The right-footed midfielder, who stands at 1.78m, is eligible to represent both England and Nigeria.
The move to Stockport is the latest step in a busy two-year period for Adigun. He left Charlton Athletics youth system in 2024 to join Dagenham & Redbridge, where he gained senior experience and spent loan spells with Tonbridge Angels and Eastbourne Borough during the 2024-25 season.
In July 2025 he moved permanently to Kidderminster Harriers before switching to Chelmsford City in October 2025. His performances there in the National League South have now earned him a move into the EFL with Stockport.
Primarily an attacking midfielder, Adigun has been deployed in a central advanced role throughout his recent career, offering a link between midfield and attack. His progression from youth football at Charlton Athletic U18 and U21 level into regular senior environments across the lower leagues has provided a varied grounding ahead of his first opportunity in League One.
Adiguns arrival adds another midfield option for Stockport as they build their squad for the 2026-27 campaign.
