Jaouen Hadjam: Algeria left-back at Young Boys linked with Genoa move amid Serie A interest

Algeria international Jaouen Hadjam, the Young Boys left-back, is being linked with a summer move to Serie A side Genoa as the Italian club explore options to strengthen on the left of their defence.

The 23-year-old, who was born in Paris and represents Algeria, is under contract with the Swiss champions until June 2028, meaning Genoa would likely need a significant fee to tempt Young Boys into selling. Hadjam’s current valuation is around €7m, having risen sharply since his arrival in Switzerland.

Hadjam joined Young Boys from Nantes in January 2024 for about €1.3m and quickly established himself in the Super League, where he has made 70 appearances, scoring six goals and providing seven assists. His form contributed to Young Boys winning the Swiss title in the 2023-24 season, a campaign that has brought him to the attention of clubs in the major European leagues.

The left-footer has also gained experience in continental competition, featuring in both the Champions League and Europa League for Young Boys, and appeared at the 2026 World Cup for Algeria, playing in three matches at the tournament.

Genoa are monitoring defensive reinforcements ahead of the new Serie A season and view the left-back position as an area where they could add both depth and quality. With Hadjam tied to a long-term deal in Bern, Young Boys are in a strong negotiating position and are under no immediate pressure to sell.
