German-born Ghanaian winger Jamie Leweling is back in action!
The 23-year-old returned to team training on Tuesday, offering a timely boost for VfB Stuttgart after a six-week absence due to a muscle injury.
Leweling, who recently committed his future to the club by extending his contract until 2029, could feature in the Swabians’ final Bundesliga clash against FC St. Pauli. However, Coach Sebastian Hoeneß remains cautious about rushing him back.
“I don’t want to rule out the possibility of him playing against St. Pauli again. But for that to happen, things have to go well,” Hoeneß said, highlighting the winger’s gradual return to match fitness.
Before his injury setback, Leweling contributed significantly to Stuttgart’s campaign, registering one goal and one assist in nine Bundesliga appearances. His return provides the team with added depth and pace as they aim to close the season on a high.
Whether Leweling makes the squad for the weekend remains uncertain, but his presence on the training ground is already a positive sign for Stuttgart’s ambitions.
