Jamie Carragher urges Mohamed Salah to stay at Liverpool: "He would regret leaving"

Jamie Carragher has issued a heartfelt plea to Mohamed Salah, urging the Egyptian star to reconsider any thoughts of leaving Liverpool.

The former Reds defender expressed concern on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, stressing that a move away from the club could lead to deep regret.

“I don’t see Salah playing for Liverpool next season,” Carragher began, before offering advice to the 31-year-old forward.

“What matters most to me is how he wants to finish this season. If he’s considering a transfer, I strongly advise him to think twice.”

Carragher’s message marked a shift from his earlier remarks last week, when he had suggested that it might be time for Salah to move on.

However, he now believes that Salah has much to gain by staying put, particularly in light of the team’s current ambitions.

“I can’t see Salah heading to Real Madrid or Barcelona. If he leaves, I think Saudi Arabia is the most likely destination,” Carragher continued.

“But Liverpool has a real chance of reaching the Champions League final this season. Just picture it—Salah, playing in Saudi Arabia, watching Liverpool compete in the final from afar.”

Carragher, who earned 38 caps for England, urged Salah to put any personal disagreements with Liverpool’s coach, Arne Slot, behind him.

“Set aside your issues with the manager for a few months,” he said. “The worst-case scenario would be a public farewell.

The best outcome, though, is Salah playing in the Champions League final in Budapest with his teammates.”

Concluding his thoughts, Carragher emphasized that Salah could look back on a potential Saudi move with regret.

“If he goes to Saudi Arabia, Salah will bitterly regret it,” he said. “Liverpool is where he belongs, and this team still has big aspirations for the future.”
