Ludogorets are being linked with a move for CSKA Sofia central midfielder James Eto’o, with the Bulgarian champions monitoring the €1.50m-rated player’s situation ahead of a potential deal.

The 25-year-old, who holds both Cameroonian and Bulgarian nationality, is currently under contract at CSKA Sofia, but publicly available data does not list an expiry date, prompting speculation he could become a free agent if no extension is agreed. The reported probability of a move is listed only as “?”, underlining that talks, if any, are still at an early and uncertain stage.

Eto’o joined CSKA from Botev Plovdiv on 2 September 2024 and has since seen his market value rise back to €1.50m, having fluctuated between €1.00m and €1.50m during his time in Sofia. The right-footed central midfielder, who wears number 99, has emerged as a regular in the efbet Liga, with his form helping to sustain interest from domestic rivals.

Born in Yaoundé on 19 November 2000 and standing at 1.76m, Eto’o came through the French system at FC Nantes, progressing from the U19s to the B team before spells at US Boulogne in France and then Botev Plovdiv in Bulgaria. His steady rise is reflected in his value history, moving from €150,000 at Boulogne in 2020 to the seven-figure bracket after establishing himself in Bulgarian top-flight football.

Both CSKA Sofia and Ludogorets compete in the efbet Liga, and a switch between two of the country’s leading clubs would be one of the more notable domestic moves of the upcoming window, whether for a fee or, if his contract situation allows, as a free agent.

If completed, a transfer to Ludogorets would represent another significant step in Eto’o’s career, offering him a fresh platform to enhance his reputation and test his potential at a club with regular European ambitions.
