Jamal Sellami receives massive boost as Yazan Al-Arab secures club future ahead of World Cup debut
Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami has received a timely boost ahead of the 2026 World Cup, following positive developments involving one of the key figures in the Jordan national team setup.
As preparations gather pace for Jordan’s historic first appearance at the World Cup finals, defender Yazan Al-Arab has settled his club future after renewing his contract with South Korean side FC Seoul.
According to reports from WinWin, Al-Arab confirmed the contract extension through a post on his official Instagram account on Thursday. The defender expressed his delight at continuing his journey with FC Seoul, where he is set to enter his third consecutive season with the club.
The same source revealed that FC Seoul had been keen to secure Al-Arab’s services for the coming years and opened formal negotiations to that effect. However, the Jordanian international initially requested time to consider his options, hoping to attract improved offers, before eventually deciding to commit his future to the Korean side.
Reports also indicated that Al-Arab had been open to changing his professional destination, particularly due to the challenges he faced in South Korea. These included difficulties with scheduling, adapting to the local environment and food culture, as well as the long travel distances associated with domestic and international commitments.
During this period of uncertainty, the defender found himself without a club and was forced to train alone in Amman after failing to receive suitable offers elsewhere. That situation ultimately influenced his decision to renew his contract with FC Seoul, prioritising stability as a crucial phase of his international career approaches.
Al-Arab is said to be fully aware that the coming period demands maximum focus and readiness, especially with the countdown underway to Jordan’s maiden appearance at the FIFA World Cup.
The centre back remains one of the most important pillars in the Jordanian national team, having played a decisive role in their runner-up finish at the AFC Asian Cup and their historic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, a landmark achievement in Jordanian football history.
