Molde deny €2.8m offer for Ghana striker Jalal Abdullai

Molde FK have rejected reports that they submitted a €2.8 million bid for Ghanaian forward Jalal Abdullai, clarifying that no such offer has been made to IF Elfsborg.

Speculation had suggested the Norwegian side were preparing a significant move for the striker.

However, Molde’s sporting director, Ole Jakob Strandhagen, dismissed those claims, stating that the club made only one approach after the player’s purchase option expired. No further substantial proposals have been lodged.

Abdullai, who is currently under contract with IF Elfsborg, remains at the centre of transfer uncertainty. While Molde’s interest appears genuine, the scale of the reported bid has been publicly denied by the Norwegian club.

Strandhagen indicated that discussions did take place once the purchase clause lapsed, but insisted there had been no additional major offers beyond that initial contact.

The clarification comes amid growing reports linking the Ghanaian striker with a move away from Sweden.

At Elfsborg, the situation surrounding Abdullai remains unresolved. The club’s manager, Stefan Andreasson, declined to provide details regarding the player’s recent absence from training, describing it simply as an internal matter. His comments have done little to quell speculation over the forward’s future.

For now, the case remains open. Molde have confirmed their interest but denied submitting a €2.8 million bid.

With no confirmed agreement between the clubs, Abdullai’s next step is still uncertain as discussions continue behind the scenes.
