Jacques Ekomie: Gabon defender at Angers linked with move to Besiktas in Turkish Super Lig switch
Gabon international Jacques Ekomie, the Angers SCO left-back, is being linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas as the Istanbul club explore options to strengthen their defence. The 22-year-old, who also holds French nationality, is under contract with the Ligue 1 club until 30 June 2027, meaning any deal would require the Turkish side to negotiate a transfer fee rather than target a free move.
Ekomie joined Angers from Girondins de Bordeaux on a free transfer on 31 July 2024 and has since established himself in the first team. A left-footed defender wearing the No 3 shirt, he has already amassed significant senior experience in France, including 50 Ligue 1 appearances and further outings in Ligue 2 and the Coupe de France across his time with Bordeaux and Angers.
Born in Libreville on 19 August 2003 and standing at 1.79m, Ekomies market value is currently listed at 9 million, a figure that provides a reference point for any discussions over a potential move. Besiktas are monitoring a player who has accumulated more than 2,900 minutes in Ligue 1, underlining his exposure to top-flight European football at a relatively young age.
Angers, who secured the defender on a long-term deal less than two years ago, are not under immediate pressure to sell, with Ekomie tied to the club for another year beyond the coming season. For now, he remains an Angers player with three years left on his contract, while Besiktas weigh up whether to turn their interest into a formal offer.
