Even during his imprisonment, Iya Mohamed, the former president of Fecafoot (Cameroonian Football Federation), is reportedly demanding salary arrears from his time leading the football institution. Iya Mohamed is currently serving a two-month prison sentence for embezzlement related to his tenure at Sodécoton (Cotton Development Company) in Cameroon.
The claimed amount is 42 million FCFA, representing seven years of salary at a rate of 500,000 CFA francs per month. Tombi A Roko Sidiki, the secretary general of Fecafoot, visited the incarcerated former president and reported the information. The amount is said to cover the period during which Mohamed allegedly did not receive his salary while at Fecafoot.
Reportedly, Joseph Owona, the current president of the Fecafoot normalization committee, has agreed to pay this sum to Iya Mohamed, even while he is in prison. The amount is said to be transferred to Mohamed’s wife’s account. It’s worth noting that Iya Mohamed was re-elected as Fecafoot president from prison, although FIFA later invalidated the vote amid protests and scandal.
