Ivorian defender Wilfried Singo is on the verge of completing a transfer from AS Monaco to Galatasaray, with the deal expected to be officially confirmed in the coming hours.

The 24-year-old right-back, who joined Monaco in the summer of 2023 from Torino in a move worth just over €9 million, is set to bring his two-year stay in the Principality to an end.

Reports suggest that the Turkish champions have reached full agreement with both the player and Monaco over the terms of the transfer.

Contract and Transfer Details

According to sources close to the negotiations, Galatasaray will pay €30 million for Singo’s services. The agreement also includes €5 million in performance-related bonuses, as well as a 10% sell-on clause in favour of Monaco should the Ivorian be transferred again in the future.

Singo is understood to have agreed personal terms with the Istanbul club, signing a four-year contract with the option of an additional year.

The deal marks a significant step in his career, giving him the opportunity to compete in Turkey’s Süper Lig and on the European stage, where Galatasaray will look to strengthen their defensive options ahead of a demanding season.

From Torino to Monaco and Beyond

Singo began his European career at Torino, where his pace, physicality and versatility quickly earned him recognition in Serie A. After four seasons in Italy, Monaco secured his signature in 2023, making him a key part of their defensive setup. Over two campaigns in Ligue 1, he developed further, becoming a consistent performer for the club and attracting attention from across Europe.

The decision to sell Singo represents a profitable outcome for Monaco, who invested less than €10 million to sign him and now stand to earn up to €35 million in guaranteed fees and bonuses, alongside the potential resale windfall.

Reaction and Analysis

The move has sparked debate among Ivorian football circles. Former Ivory Coast internationals have suggested that the transfer could be pivotal for Singo’s career, offering him the chance to become a leader in one of Europe’s most passionate football environments.

“Galatasaray is a club with enormous expectations, both domestically and in Europe,” one ex-Ivorian player noted. “If Wilfried adapts quickly, this could be the stage where he takes his game to another level. His athletic qualities are undeniable, but he now needs to show consistency in a team that is expected to win every week.”

For Galatasaray, the signing underlines their intent to reinforce ahead of another campaign in which they will aim to dominate domestically and make a mark in continental competitions. For Singo, it represents both a challenge and an opportunity to solidify his reputation as one of Africa’s leading defenders on the European stage.

As the official announcement draws near, all eyes will be on Istanbul, where the Ivorian is expected to begin the next chapter of his career.
